Another year has passed
People have evolved, things have changed. However, one thing still remains; I'm still as lost, unsure and indecisive as ever.

Mathematical Equation in Life
I heard this inspiring story over the radio and thought I should share it with you guys.
Kindly work out the following mathematical equation before scrolling down to the second half of this post
1) 1 x 1 x 1 x 1 x 1 x 1 x 1 x 1 x 1 x 1
2) (1 + 0.1) x (1 + 0.1) x (1 + 0.1) x (1 + 0.1) x (1 + 0.1) x (1 + 0.1) x (1 + 0.1) x (1 + 0.1) x (1 + 0.1) x (1 + 0.1)
3) (1 - 0.1 ) x (1 - 0.1 ) x (1 - 0.1 ) x (1 - 0.1 ) x (1 - 0.1 ) x (1 - 0.1 ) x (1 - 0.1 ) x (1 - 0.1 ) x (1 - 0.1 ) x (1 - 0.1 )
If you do notice, all the above questions are multiplied by itself, for 10 times.

1) 1 x 1 x 1 x 1 x 1 x 1 x 1 x 1 x 1 x 1 = 1
2) (1 + 0.1) x (1 + 0.1) x (1 + 0.1) x (1 + 0.1) x (1 + 0.1) x (1 + 0.1) x (1 + 0.1) x (1 + 0.1) x (1 + 0.1) x (1 + 0.1) = 2.59 (2 dec. places)
3) (1 - 0.1 ) x (1 - 0.1 ) x (1 - 0.1 ) x (1 - 0.1 ) x (1 - 0.1 ) x (1 - 0.1 ) x (1 - 0.1 ) x (1 - 0.1 ) x (1 - 0.1 ) x (1 - 0.1 ) = 0.35 (2 dec. places)
The reason why I asked you to work out the maths question is:
If you were to put in 0.1 more effort/diligence than the previous time you did in working towards your goal, by the 10th time, you will be 2.59 times nearer to your goal that you previously were.
However, if you decide to slack a little and reduce the amount of effort/diligence by 0.1 in working towards your goal, by the 10th time, you will regress to 0.35.
If you decide to maintain the amount of effort/diligence, you will always remain stagnant without moving any closer (or further) towards your goal.
That 0.1 (10%) may not seem much of a difference; Just slack put in a little less effort today and slack 10% more than yesterday or Work a little harder today and put in 10% more efforts than yesterday but in the long run, it does make a significant difference.
The difference between 2.59 and 0.35 is 2.24. Can you imagine how much you regress/lose out by slacking that wee bit of 0.1 (10%) each day, when you can maximise your potential and far exceed where you are today by 2.59 times (259%)?
I hope this will inspire you (as it did for myself) by working a little harder today than you did yesterday, everyday.

Very Sick but Blogging and Tweeting
I know I should be sleep cause it's 3.30am and I'm very sick but I just can't sleep because I've been running in and out of the toilet! I just came out from the toilet 5 mins ago and had diarrheaed for the 9th time.
During the time spent in toilet, my iPod touch became my best friend in the toilet. *sheepish grin* I started downloading more applications and found a couple of nice games. I also realised that you shouldn't play games that are too exciting when you are trying to poo. It just makes the process harder. *embarassed*
On a side note, I created an account with twitter account a long time, before it was the 'in' thing in Singapore.
*runs to toilet for the 10th time*
Ok, I'm back. As I was saying, I didn't exactly know what Twitter and its functions because very people around me Tweet. I had the impression that it was like facebook's status update, minus all the applications that it has. Thus, my twitter collected cobwebs for a couple of years.
It was sometime last year that I realised Twitter was meant for micro-blogging and since the hype about it caught on, I thought maybe I should start tweet-ing. Then, I realised something. I can't remember what was my login ID, which emailed I used and what was the password I created. I've created many permutations trying to mix and match the various IDs, emails and passwords. Finally, I found the right combination and I shall learn how to tweet.
Good luck to me, twitter and my poo.

I have decided that from now on, i will capture a picture of the blogskin and upload it on my blog each time I change a blogskin, so that I can track how often I change my blogskin. On top of that, it also allows me to remember the kind of blog designs I have.
It's a shame I didn't manage to catch a screenshot of my previous blogskin before creating this new one.
Previously, I used to use blogskins that are readily available, thus there was little room for personalisation. With the new add-on featuress that blogger has, it's much easier for me to create a blog design which I like. Moreover, I can customise part, if not the entire blog design (which I rarely do because I'm laking the technical skills).
Anyone keen to teaching more about photoshop or fireworks, so that I can fully utilise these programmes? I will like to have these programmes to hog my hard disk space for a good reason.

Still Sick
My fever has subsided in the afternoon, only to return again now. And my worse fears have come true; I'm having symptoms of stomach flu (like persistent stomach ache, lot of gas in the stomach and diarrhea) and my mum is having fever on top of stomach flu.
My mum finally went to the doctor after umpteen times of vomiting and diarrhea over a span of three days and the doctor warned her that if the symptoms still persist, she will have to be rushed to the A&E, due to the possible complications.
My father is having stomach flu too. Even Sugar is having diarrhea!
I hope this will not turn into a epidemic at home.

Being Sick
It feels sucky to have a fever, much worse when I had to drive with achy joints, 'nua' limps, and a heavy head. The wet roads and water vapour on the windscreen weren't helping at all. At some point in time, I had wanted to give up driving and flag for a cab instead. That was how terrible I felt.
Last week when I went for my first dental review after my wisdom teeth extraction (cum surgery), the dentist discovered that my gums were inflamed. I hope I'm having fever because of some flu virus and not because the wound in my gums are infected. If the latter is true, it will be very tricky to treat the condition.
On hindsight, I realised that the last time when I went for May Day's concert, I was running a fever. Now that I'm watching their concert in a few day's time, I'm starting to run a fever too! Hmms ... May Day's concert seems to have a negative correlation with my health condition! Hahs
Jokes aside, I'm not the only sickly at home; my mum is down with stomach flu. I hope we will recover soon, so that we can decrease the chances of passing the virus to someone else at home. It will be extremely disastrous if my entire family is sick, or worse still, if there's cross contamination. Blame it on our weak constitutions!
Wish us luck.

Time to Wake Up
Sometimes I wish I can give you a tight slap across your face to wake you up from your senses.
No, I'm not stereotyping you or being biase. Neither does it involve prejudice.
Yes, I'm being judgmental but only in view of what you have done and not my impression of who you are as a person.
Just how many more lessons do you want to go through before you learn to be sensible? Haven't you gone through enough?

Parking Fines
Yesterday, I got 2 parking fines in a span of 12 hours. The best or rather the worst thing was, on both occasions, I DID display parking coupons!
The first time, the darm coupons were covered with a non-slip map and I was fined for "not displaying coupons". That was $30. Half a day later, I was delayed unexpectedly and was fined for "expired coupons". That was an additional $20 and the summon ticket was issued right before my eyes. How lucky could I be!
Now, I'm $50 poorer despite the painstaking efforts to save. What luck! Zzz.

Wisdom Teeth Extraction
I just realise how irregular I blog. I know I rarely blog but didn't know how bad the extent was until I went to look at my archives. It's really a challenge to maintain two blogs on top of my busy schedule. I shall make it a point to blog more regularly. It really helps to keep track of the things I do when my memory fails me frequently.
Just to update a little, I finally extract my wisdom teeth last Wednesday (31st April 2010)! After much procrastination, I decided that I am sick of diligently digging flossing my teeth to get rid of food that is stuck in between, and I have to do this after every meal (or at times, after snacking) as it gets really uncomfortable food resting on my gums.
While other people I've spoken to, felt that the wisdom surgery was manageable, I thought that it was rather disgusting. It doesn't help that I was once a dental assitant/nurse and I get to witness how wisdom teeth surgeries are performed. Even though I felt the whole procedure was rather gruesome and bloody, I never once cringed while assisting in surgeries. However, it's a different story when you are the patient, especially one who has seen and know how it's being carried out. Even though I was blindfolded, I could picture what was happening to me and that caused the fear factor to increase 10 folds!
To make matters worse, I chose to extract ALL my wisdom teeth at one shot. While most people who extract all wisdom teeth at one sitting will choose to undergo GA (General Anaesthesia), I was under LA (Local Anaesthesia), meaning I was awake throughout the entire procedure and was aware of what was going on. Thankfully, X-ray scans have shown that I was borned with only 3 wisdom teeth. Bad news was, I had to undergo surgery to remove 2 of them. The 3rd tooth could be extracted normally.
And I seriously suspect that the dentist did not inject sufficient anaesthesia, even after I told him that it hurts when he 'tested' the numbness of my gums by pinching it with a tweezer-like tool. I thought he would inject more anaesethesia to numb my gums/flesh/nerves but he proceeded with the surgery without increasing the dosage. Halfway through the surgery, it hurt so badly that I had to tell him so. Only then did he injected my gums with a wee bit more anaesthesia. However, there was little effect as he continued with the surgery immediately instead of letting the anaesthesia 'settle in'. Sad case.
After the surgery, I shopped around Metro (at Paragon) for a nice cap, so that I can walk out of Paragon (where my dental clinic is located) onto Orchard Road with half my face covered. Hopefully, few people will notice me and my badly swollen cheeks. After that, I roamed to Wheelock Place and Ion. It was approximately 3 hours later, when the anaesthesia started wearing off that I felt like dying. I regretted not getting home earlier to rest and numb my swollen cheeks with ice pack.
Since then, there were two the mini paus on my cheeks. Anyway, to all who will like to loose weight, extracting your wisdom teeth might be a good way. I've lost approximately 2 kg in the past week, since my diet mainly comprises of soup, porridge, mashed potato and ice-cream. All of them are in uber small portion because there's a limit to how wide my mouth could open and how frequent I could open it. When I chew too much or open and close my mouth too frequently, there will be this nagging ache/pain at my cheeks/jaws. Sighs.
Till today, my face still looks like a pau, a 小笼汤包.
My stithces are due to be removed this evening. Hope everything will be fine. I can't wait to resume my normal diet.
